1. Finally hit the downhill side of the semester. And being as it's a Jesuit university, there's a nice long break around Easter ... but first, I still have to teach on the day of the first evening of Passover.  Fortunately the boys have things well in hand.  I think.  I'm just not going to worry about it.

1.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your expressions of sympathy about our cat.  It's a little easier knowing that we're not alone in this kind of grief.

I don't even know how how I knew that the phrase "Great White Hope" referred to a mid-century white boxer who tried (and failed) to "prove" that he was a superior athlete than the champion black boxer of the time.  But I did.
